Day Nineteen: New Posting Style| Summer Love Poem

As the nights get shorter and the temperature increases

The warm summer air blows, it whispers in the breezes

Sitting beside him, he tells me a tale of the past

I hold on to each moment, hoping it would last

There is a chorus of insects singing in the trees

The perfect soundtrack for moments like these

Late summer nights, under the star filled sky

I enjoy every minute, with my husband, my guy

Changing Others By Changing Yourself: Creating a Better Life

ImageThe past week or so has been pretty rough for me.  There were ups, and there were downs.  Unexpected twists and turns became the norm for me, but days passed, and life got better.  In fact it became better than it had been in years!  Some times in life we focus on the things others do to hurt us, but there is not much we can do to change other people.

During this past week, I realized that a change in self may be all that is needed to bring you to a better place.  Why are people mistreating you?  Why is everything going wrong?  Why do I keep messing up? Instead of shutting people out of your life, or trying to change them, try looking at yourself.  Take some time to sit in silence, and just think.  What is it that you don’t like about yourself?  What is that negative thing about you others always seem to point out? There is a common thread there somewhere, and you need to locate it and work on changing it.

There is a good chance that your negative ways are poisoning your relationships, and indirectly hindering the successes you desire.  Admit one of your negative personality traits today.  Don’t just admit it to yourself, admit it to someone you may have hurt or offended with that behavior.  Next, you may have to do some research, meditating, or praying to open your mind to changing.  Knowing the benefits to modifying your behavior can also help you on your journey of a better you.  Finally, be consistent. You might feel like giving up initially, but in the long run it is well worth it.

Is there something about you that is ruining your relationships?  Is there something that you never really liked about yourself, and finally want to change? Do you have any advice for someone who is trying to change bad habits or better themselves in life? Please share in the comments, I would love to discuss this topic with you!

I Hate Folding Clothes Because of Socks

I enjoy a cool breezy day. Blue skys marked with puffy white clouds, bring a smile to my face. The slight warmth of the sun touches my skin. Ahhh what a great feeling! A feeling I know nothing about currently, because I am folding clothes. Folding clothes is actually a pretty simple task. A task that allows you to sit, relax, watch TV, listen to music, and much more. However, I hate folding clothes because of socks!

There has never and I mean never been a time when folding clothes was a completely enjoyable task. Overall it probably ranks number one on my household list of tasks I actually want to do. As I reach into the big pile of clothes I recently dumped onto my bed I grab a shirt. No problem. Some shorts. Easy. Pants. A little extra arm work,  but who am I to complain. Then I absently reach into the pile, because my attention now belongs to an episode of Psych that I’ve seen numerous times. What have we here? A sock…great! The sock gets tossed to the “sock pile for later sorting.”

As the day goes on and all of the laundry is done, I am left with the infamous “sock pile for later sorting.” Later is now, and sorting sucks!  I take on the daunting task by first sorting by color. If I can make a match now I am thrilled. In fact I do a quick celebratory dance every time I get a match without further investigation. Next, it’s size time. Between my husband, myself, and two sons (9 &2), the sizes of the socks vary.  At this point I look for the tiny socks in each color and they are moved out of the way and matched (that’s the easiest part). Then, it’s on to pulling out my socks. I never have issues here.  Finally, the challenge arises!

Between my husband and my oldest son, they have fifty thousand pairs of socks (overexaggerated figure, but you get the point). They have knee length, calf length, ankle socks, no-show socks, ribbed socks, dress socks, Happy Socks, socks with a red line, socks with a blue line, socks with names, socks without names. I feel like a Dr.  Seuss book!

After finally matching most of the socks, I am left with the head scratching task of figuring what to do with all of the pairless socks spread before me. I know exactly what I am going to do…put them to be washed for next time. Hopefully their twins will show up in the next wash.
