The Outsiders

They say you’re never alone as long as you have people around.
I beg to differ.

I was just fine having my family. And plenty of time to myself.

It wasn’t until The Outsiders were introduced.

I would share with them a part of me. Only for them to take off and leave with it.

I even cared for some of The Outsiders.

Their lives either ended too soon or their parents uprooted them to another state.

I even loved some of The Outsiders. They were the ones who caused the most pain.

These Outsiders would turn their feelings on and off as they pleased. This was hard to accept when my feelings were always on.
I never felt so alone in my life.

The more Outsiders I seem to let in, the more alone I seem to feel.

As long as those people aren’t The Outsiders.

The Greatest Sound in the World

Each day I check my weather apps. Yeah, you read it correctly. Apps.  Plural. More than one. “App” with an “s”. I check each app in search of a few things.

The first thing is the current temperature. I have to know how hot or how cold it will be when I leave the house.
The next thing would be the temperature for the rest of the day, and the rest of the week. I anticipate cold, cool, or comfortable days. (I live in south Louisiana, so I am usually disappointed).

Finally, I check for precipitation. I save the best for last. Most people would be anticipating a sunny day. Some might even look forward to a cloudy day with some sun. I, on the other hand, have high hopes for high precipitation percentages! I love rain! I look forward to rainy, stormy days.

I guess you are probably reading this thinking I’m twisted, and I just might be. I understand that rain causes lots of problems for some. I also know that thunderstorms and other severe weather can cause costly damages, injuries, as well as loss of life.

However, I still find peace in a rumble of thunder. I await the crackle of lightning that follows the thunder. I count the amount of time that elapses between the two indicators that tell me how far away the storm is from me. I stand by as the storm gets closer. I prepare for the moment those first, slow, stray rain drops belt against the roof and windows. Those stray drops turn into a steady pouring and pounding against my home.

This is the moment I have been waiting for. The moment I get to experience the greatest sound in the world! Rain. The rain is hitting my home from every possible angle, due to the wind that accompanied it on its journey. As the system moves across my house, I lay in bed. I lay there in the dark. There is no sound being made inside. The only sound I need is the sound of the rain colliding with everything it touches on its way down. That is all I need.

Why would I need to hear anything else? Rain is the greatest sound in the world!

The Return of Will & Grace!

I thought today was going to be a typical, routine Wednesday. That all changed when I was checking out what was trending on Twitter. As I look down the list of trending topics I passed a couple of hashtags that didn’t interest me at all. It wasn’t until I saw “Will and Grace” (trending in 2017 with a caption underneath stating that the series would be making a return). That was the defining moment of my day…no my year!

Will & Grace is a television series that ran from 1998-2006. This show had it all. From comedy to drama, you name it and it was there! The writers were definitely talented and knew how to make you believe that the characters really existed…you knew them personally…and were BFFs with them!

I am thrilled to see this amazing show return and with the original leading actors and actresses! I am positive that after 11 years without Will, Grace, Jack, and Karen this new season will not disappoint. They have more than enough material to continue this show beyond the 2017-2018 season.

If you are a Will & Grace fan be on the lookout for 10 brand new episodes as the show will return later this year. If you aren’t a fan, I advise you become one. And if you just flat out have no idea what show I’m talking about, I suggest you Google it and binge watch on any reruns and DVDs you can find. Personally I am going to be getting the rest of the DVDs I need to complete my collection.

You Should Be Listening To…

Every now and then I come across an artist whose talents I appreciate. A musician who studies and nurtures his craft. It is undeniable that his heart and soul is deeply implanted in each of his projects. This type of dedication gives birth to impressive lyrics and incredible flow. It gives birth to greatness.

The artist I am referring to goes by the name Vares. His sound is far from a carbon copy. The infusion of hip hop’s past and present cultivates a unique sound and message that will leave you waiting on more of his music. Vares’ talents aren’t just limited to rapping on the verses you hear in his music. He is also the writer of his own music. The lyrics you hear flow from his inner creativity. Vares is truly a lyrical genius!
