Oh No, Please, Don’t Pick Up Your Shoes

What is chaos?  I’m glad you asked.

Chaos is the world around me.  I want things done a certain way.  I want things in their designated places.  Oh, but everyone does not share the same passion for organizing that I have. Enter chaos.

If this is you…seek help from a professional Organizationologist STAT!

Exhibit A: Shoes in the middle of the floor. Nothing in my mind says that smack dab in the floor’s center should lie a pair of shoes.

Exhibit B: Empty cartons, boxes, bags, etc. strategically placed back in their spots. (NOW you know how to pick things up.)

Exhibit C: Lights, Camera, Action! More like Lights, Television, Tablet! Every possible object powered be electricity or battery will be on in the room …simultaneously…occupied by none other than no one!

Looking for something in a chaotic room is just like trying to find Waldo.

Exhibit D: I can’t find my… Fill in the blank with anything. Yes, anything and everything that is absolutely important to your current survival needs.  Of course you can’t find anything, because you put everything everywhere.

This is just the minor levels of chaos I encounter on a regular daily basis. What brings about chaos in your life? Feel free to share in the comments!

Life Lesson: Try Not to Lose What is Hard to Find

I hate when I lose things. Especially when it is something that is hard to find once it is lost. Things, I can honestly say I don’t lose too often. My brain is pretty good at keeping up with things, but what it struggles with are my emotions, feelings, and thoughts.
I seem to lose my temper, my mind, my train of thought, my way, my patience, and my confidence without blinking! And of course those are the things that seem like only Jesus Himself can return to me. I can’t ever seem to find them on my own!

I know each of these”losses” are all a matter of changing my habits and my perception. I’m working on that. It’s just the one that seems out of reach is my confidence. I can’t even backtrack my steps to figure out exactly where I lost it! I know the loss of of my confidence was a long gradual process, and it will be a long gradual process to get it back.
This journey to rebuild myself, and locate all of those feelings, thoughts, and emotions that remain at large, is definitely a difficult one. It seems as if once progress is made in one department a regression is unfolding in another. I consider giving up on a daily bases, but for now I am still on this wild goose chase of a journey to rebuild myself!

It Was No Accident…I Did It On Purpose

Yes, I am a brat.  Yes, I am selfish. Yes, it is my way or my way.  Yes,  I said my way or my way.  At least I gave you an option.

When I hung up on your girlfriend. It was no accident. I did it on purpose. When I “tripped” and “accidentally” unplugged your controller from the video game…that was not an accident. I did it on purpose. That time when I “forgot” to tell you a girl called for you, and she stopped talking to you at school…you guessed it. Not an accident. I did it on purpose.
And all the times I had your back…I did that on purpose too!

It is wonderful having the brother I have. As a kid there was never a dull moment with us.  Even now as adults we still have a great bond. Despite my numerous  attempts to sabotage his happiness (Sorry, but that is what happens if you don’t play by my rules.), we got along very well.  What can I say? I did it on purpose.

I’m Ready!- Why I Like Spongebob Squarepants

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?  I can only think about Spongebob Squarepants. If you know someone, or rather something living in a pineapple anywhere. Please let me know. Anyway,  Spongebob is everywhere and completely unavoidable for me. My kids love him and truth be told…so do I.

If you aren’t a fan of the talking yellow sponge who is the picture of optimism, you probably don’t understand why an adult (or anyone for that matter) would love such a show.  Well, I will let you know why I do. First,  I need to let you know that this show takes you so far from reality, why wouldn’t you enjoy it?  At the end of my day I am tired of people discussing the world and its plethora of issues. I am exhausted from hearing and reading about #RichPeoplesProblems. And honestly I am about done with the things I personally have to deal with in my own life. That is why I turn to none other than Spongebob and his friends down in Bikini Bottom.

I actually started watching this show when it first started and then never really got into it.  Fast-forward some years.  Add two kids. Now I have become a fan of the foolery that occurs under the sea. From the money, money, money attitude of Mr Krabs, to the paranoia Spongebob instills in Mrs. Puff.  This show provides hours of senseless entertainment for me.

Obviously creator and marine biologist, Stephen Hillenberg knows exactly what he is doing. Spongebob Squarepants has been  annoying his neighbor and co worker, Squidward for going on seventeen years!  This sponge has been failing his driving test,  working at the Krusty Crab, taking care of his pet snail,  Gary, being BFFs with Patrick, blowing bubbles, catching jellyfish, and much more for almost seventeen years!  Spongebob has definitely made his mark, and not just on the small screen (well not so small these days). Spongebob Squarepants has movies,  books, toys, clothing, and my personal favorite MEMES!

If you ever want to escape reality. Take a dip in the sea, and make your way to Bikini Bottom. Join Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Gary, Sandy, Plankton, and the others for a moment away from reality!

Day Six: Amazingly, Monday Had Other Plans for Me

If you work in retail, as I just so happen to do, your work schedule will often vary. When I get my schedule, my eyes immediately scan for the word OFF. Now don’t get me wrong, my job is ok, and I am thankful to have it. However, who doesn’t look forward to their days away from work?

After working Wednesday through Sunday, I was jumping for joy on the inside that today is Monday. Yes, you read it correctly, I couldn’t wait for Monday. While most people were dreading its mere existence, I was planning out my day of rest and relaxation. Amazingly, Monday had other plans for me.

Walk in the forest alarm playing

It’s my 6:30 A.M. alarm going off. The same one I snooze right through any other day, but today is different. My husband said he would allow me to rest today since my oldest son was away for Spring Break and I didn’t have to bring him to school. I wake up and help my husband get our two year old son ready for school (daycare). He was going to drop our son off to school then head out to work. Everything went according to plan except…

I get out of bed and get ready for my day of nothing ahead of me.  I then make my way to the kitchen to prepare my morning bowl of oatmeal, yum!  Amazingly, Monday had other plans for me.  There he sat,  upon the light bulb, above the kitchen sink, just waiting to ruin my perfectly planned day of nothing.

A wasp.  No bigger than my thumb. A wasp.  A wasp.  A wasp.  A wasp.  Insert expletives here!  I am afraid…no terrified…no I am panick-stricken. I came right back in my bedroom, closed the door and locked it behind me. (As if the critter will be able to open the door unlocked, let alone locked!)

Well folks, I am in my bed, out of harm’s (the wasp’s) way.  Doing exactly what I planned to do today…absolutely nothing. I sure hope my husband comes home for lunch!

And The Oscar Goes To…YOU!

Most people have a general idea of who they are. We know if we will fit in with the crowd, or if we will be a wallflower. We know if we are leaders, or if we should be led. We even know if we eat certain foods or not. Each of these characteristics of self are excellent identifiers of who we are, and how we will go about our day to day lives.

This would be great information, if it didn’t pertain to people and life!  Both are extremely unpredictable, and there are always exceptions. Especially when “life” happens to people. You shouldn’t be surprised by any outcome of that combination. This is when we deviate from the well known path we are so familiar and comfortable with. We act out of character, our actions are questioned, our thoughts and ideas challenged, who are we?!  I’ll tell you exactly who we are…we are actors.

Each of us have broken character on several occasions during our lives. Have you ever been asked, “What’s wrong with you? You are not yourself today.” Or one of my personal faves, “What are you smoking?” The latter is usually when a person says something that baffles another, simply because they expect you to remain the same day in and day out. Well, NEWSFLASH people, we are all actors!  Including you, yeah you, the one who is reading this. Who is saying, “I don’t ever change!”

Here are just a few examples of why each of us deserve an Oscar:

You had a girl’s night last night, and you aren’t in the least way presentably (or capable) to go to work today. You cannot call your boss, and explain the hungover, oblivious state you are currently in. So, you call your boss and explain how you are too sick to come in to work. You cough, you sniffle, you even get in your best,  I think I am about to whither away and die voice, and you put on the performance you hope will win you the chance to be employed another day!

Or maybe, you run arcoss an unusually attractive girl while you are studying at the library early one morning.  You’ve never seen her there before, and it may be your last time seeing her. You decide to go over to her table and see if your charm and wit will give you a chance with the mysterious and captivating patron. As you get closer, you see she has books spread across the table. One of those books titled, Health & Fitness. You know good and well you don’t work out, however you still proceed. Through breif conversation you learn she is an avid gym goer, and lives a strictly healthy and active life. Knowing you are as lazy as a fat cat, and will eat more candy than a kid on Halloween, you tell this health fanatic you too are into living a healthy lifestyle. You win the chance to take her out. Now, you make up stories based on movies you saw long ago (while you snacked of course). You eat little to nothing on dates. You even end each day soaking your pain away from the excessive hours you put in at the gym. You have officially won a chance to get to know more about the mysterious, captivating patron.

These are just  a couple of instances of how quickly we can change what we thought were defining characteristics of ourselves.  We do this often, and usually nothing is wrong with it. I just find it funny that we are all great actors if the occasion were to arise.  Keep being who you are, change a little, and keep your acceptance speeches short!
