Go Take a Walk Outside: Outside Looking In

We often find ourselves in a place where we cannot seem to figure out what to do in a certain situation. We consult with friends, family, co-workers, teachers, therapists, and sometimes complete strangers! All of this is done to gain insight to make a decision that we simply cannot make on our own. When our backs are against the wall everything moves quickly. The room spins.  We see what is in front of us and what is in our peripherals. This is why we are unable to calm down, think, and come up with a solution.

Are you tired of saying, Why didn’t I think of that? Well that makes sense! Oh,  I see!, along with any number of Ah ha!  phrases everytime a member of your support team solves all of your problems?  If you are, then read on.  This just might help you out the next time your back is against the wall.

The difference between you and your support team during a difficult situation is location. Your placement during tough times is right there in the trenches. While others are viewing your situation from the outside. It is a lot easier to solve a problem when you are able to see every aspect of the situation. We can all tell the lady in the scary movies to avoid going up the stairs. We can all tell our friends to avoid a certain resturant because of poor service. We can all warn our co-workers of the traffic on the way to work.  Why is this possible? Simple. Because we have already been there. Also, because we are now on the outside looking in.

It is now time for you to take a walk outside. Take a walk outside and see what everyone else sees.  Meaning, remove yourself from the situation and look at what is really going on around you. You have to get a better view, a better idea of what is really happening in your life.  If you are constantly coping with the stresses of life, and never stop to take inventory of your life. You will never be able to figure out what is really going on.

Let’s just say you are having financial problems.  I’m sure anyone who is on the outside will be able to solve your money woes quickly! Why?  Because they are not tied to your lifestyle. They don’t need that pricey car. They don’t need all of the channels the cable provider is willing to shove down your throat. Those on the outside recognize reality over “necessity”. It’s also easier to recognize error when one has made and corrected those same behaviors.

It’s time to let go of your stress and go take a walk outside! It is time to view your life the way other’s may view it. It is time to slow down and observe from the outside and realize what is really unfolding in your life!

Book Review: Whiskey Rebellion by Liliana Hart

Whiskey Rebellion is the first book in the Addison Holmes Mystery Series. This book was written by New York Times bestselling author, Liliana Hart.

Let me begin by saying I absolutely LOVED this book!  Liliana Hart,  you have just been added to my list of favorite authors. Here is a bit of a back story about how I stumbled across this great read.

One day while mindlessly scrolling through endless pictures of cute cats,  recipes I will never make, excercise challenges I will never complete, and other pictures on Pinterest, I came across a pin for a website called BookBub. I made it my business to see what this was all about. Bottom line is that you sign up, select the catagories you enjoy reading about, the app(s) you use for e-reading and you get suggestions about books you might like to read.  Here’s the fun part! Most titles are discounted or my favorite FREE!

So there I was adding free e-book after free e-book to my Google Play Books account. I was content with my selections and proceeded to read the first book in my “queue”. That book was Whiskey Rebellion. I had no idea what I was about to get into,  but I was ready!  This book began with a prologue. I absolutely love to get a glimpse into a crucial moment of the story before I even know who the characters are and what is really going on. Liliana had me at the prologue and took me for a wild, entertaining, heart pounding ride all the way to the last word of the epilogue.

I felt like I was a part of a television crime drama. One that had a perfect mix of comedy, mystery, drama, romance, and murders. The characters and plot were well put together. Every aspect of the book was perfectly described and allowed my mind’s eye to visualize each event as it unfolded. I honestly felt like I was part of this story.

Whiskey Rebellion‘s major and minor characters were all believable and relatable. I’m sure everyone will feel a connection with at least one character and know someone like one of the others. This book has it all, and it will leave you wanting more.  Lucky for us Liliana has several books that accompany this engrossing mystery novel. Check out Whiskey Rebellion and the rest of the Addison Holmes series as well as Liliana’s other series here.

Here is the introduction to Whiskey Rebellion by Liliana Hart:

My name is Addison Holmes, and I teach history at James Madison High School in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia. You might be under the assumption that my life went to the dogs when my fiancé left me at the altar for the home economics teacher, or when I got notice that my apartment building was going to be condemned, or even when I was desperate enough to strip to my unmentionables to earn some extra cash. The truth is that I’m pretty much used to disasters following me around on a daily basis, but I could have gone without finding my principal dead in the parking lot of a seedy gentlemen’s club.

After the initial shock of finding my first dead body, which included throwing back shots of Jack Daniels like it was water, I decided to take stock of my life. I was in a desperate situation and if the school board ever found out I’d been a stripper, even a bad stripper, I’d be jobless as well as fiancé-less and homeless. Fortunately, I had a friend who felt sorry enough for me to give me a job doing some surveillance work at her detective agency. Not to mention the fact that I was now able to stick my nose into other people’s business for a good cause, find a murderer, and pick up helpful tips from an incredibly attractive detective.

Come check out my story and be thankful your life is relatively normal.

I’m Ready!- Why I Like Spongebob Squarepants

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?  I can only think about Spongebob Squarepants. If you know someone, or rather something living in a pineapple anywhere. Please let me know. Anyway,  Spongebob is everywhere and completely unavoidable for me. My kids love him and truth be told…so do I.

If you aren’t a fan of the talking yellow sponge who is the picture of optimism, you probably don’t understand why an adult (or anyone for that matter) would love such a show.  Well, I will let you know why I do. First,  I need to let you know that this show takes you so far from reality, why wouldn’t you enjoy it?  At the end of my day I am tired of people discussing the world and its plethora of issues. I am exhausted from hearing and reading about #RichPeoplesProblems. And honestly I am about done with the things I personally have to deal with in my own life. That is why I turn to none other than Spongebob and his friends down in Bikini Bottom.

I actually started watching this show when it first started and then never really got into it.  Fast-forward some years.  Add two kids. Now I have become a fan of the foolery that occurs under the sea. From the money, money, money attitude of Mr Krabs, to the paranoia Spongebob instills in Mrs. Puff.  This show provides hours of senseless entertainment for me.

Obviously creator and marine biologist, Stephen Hillenberg knows exactly what he is doing. Spongebob Squarepants has been  annoying his neighbor and co worker, Squidward for going on seventeen years!  This sponge has been failing his driving test,  working at the Krusty Crab, taking care of his pet snail,  Gary, being BFFs with Patrick, blowing bubbles, catching jellyfish, and much more for almost seventeen years!  Spongebob has definitely made his mark, and not just on the small screen (well not so small these days). Spongebob Squarepants has movies,  books, toys, clothing, and my personal favorite MEMES!

If you ever want to escape reality. Take a dip in the sea, and make your way to Bikini Bottom. Join Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Gary, Sandy, Plankton, and the others for a moment away from reality!
